How a Secure Processor is Installed in a New Device
A THWIXEL-compatible phone is typically manufactured to accept an SPN but is supplied without one.
This works only with new devices designed for an SPN — an ordinary phone cannot be retrofitted.
The SPN is added after purchase by a trusted provider — supplying it separately keeps the security element out of the factory supply chain, reducing the risk of compromise, and lets our special magic be added.
That frees manufacturers to compete on features and price, with security guaranteed by the SPN instead of brand reputation.
THWIXEL operates on a secure chain of trust that protects:
YouandAny person or entity that relies on the information provided by your SPN
This means we need to know that You is actually You.
We also need to know the information provided is accurate.
To provision your SPN, you present your identity evidence — for example a photographic ID.
It’s entirely your choice what goes onto your SPN — though leaving some out may limit access to certain online services.
This might be a bit of a hassle, but it should make lots of stuff a lot easier and safer down the track.
